Malmö Snaps
Spirit design that blends heritage, flavor, and identity
At Motherland, we created the packaging design for Malmö Snaps - a modern spirit deeply rooted in local tradition. In close collaboration with Saturnus, one of Sweden’s most iconic beverage brands, we developed a solution that connects brand storytelling and standout shelf presence.
This spirit design is more than aesthetic. It’s a tribute to Malmö’s culture - built around three key ingredients: hand-peeled oranges, locally harvested honey, and coastal sea buckthorn. The label’s bold, orange Saturnus globe references the legacy of the Lantmannagatan factory, where oranges were once prepared by hand. Rooftop honey supports local biodiversity, while sea buckthorn brings a crisp Nordic freshness.
From a branding perspective, every visual element serves a purpose. Archival graphics, including Saturnus’ original logotype and factory mark, are integrated into a clean, modern layout. The “Ö” in Malmö subtly plays on both Scandinavian geography and the Saturnus brand symbol - inviting interpretation and engagement.
The result is a spirit packaging that captures local pride, drives consumer connection, and strengthens the brand’s position in a competitive market.
Malmö Snaps is a clear example of how thoughtful packaging design, authentic spirit branding, and local storytelling can transform a product into a brand experience.
